Mouth cancer is a dangerous abnormal growth that can affect any part of your mouth.

Mouth cancer can appear as:

An ulcer that doesn’t go after two weeks
A swelling or growth that has been there for two or more weeks
White or red patch
You are more at risk of mouth cancer if you smoke or chew tobacco and drink too much alcohol and if you don’t have a healthy diet.

Your dentist can spot the signs of cancer through regular visits, however if you have any of the above signs then you should book an appointment to see your dentist ASAP.

At your visits with the dentist they:

Visually check your face and neck
Feel your jaw and neck
Check your mouth, tongue, lips and throat
